The execution of Noa p. Singleton
Noa p. Singleton was put on trial for killing Sarah Dixon, she didn't take the stand in her defense and was given the death penalty. Noa has been in jail for a decade and was now six months away from her death day when Sarah's mother had suddenly approached Noa and offered to use her influence to get Noa clemency. In return, Sarah's mother Marlene wants Noa to reveal all details that she didn't confess during the trial. Marlene had sent her lawyer oliver to talk to Noa where she started telling her story from the beginning when her mother dropped her as a baby.
The genre of the story is mystery but it is honestly more of a sad life story that leads to a death sentence for murder. Noa tells memories from an early age which in my opinion seems a little bizarre considering I can't remember what I did last week but from her memory, at 10 months old her mother had dropped her from a second story stairwell. While telling the story of her life she made up a ridiculous story about an intruder. Noa was raised by a mom that had new boyfriends all the time and had also suffered a miscarriage that left her unable to have children. Noa´s father later tries to get in touch with her but he is an ex alcoholic with a relapse waiting to happen. The book is honestly a dramatic novel more than a crime book but the story eventually ties into the murder, while reading this book my mental image was more of a sappy tv show than a serious trial.
Later in the book you will find out that Noa is actually the author is now trying to explain how she got on death row, why she didn't defend herself and why she committed the murder.
